What about this Gym?

So, I'm thinking of joining my local gym until I get back to my classes in the fall. When I get to that college, I have access to a join for free!
But right now, I'm looking at joining Planet Fitness. I want to hear the pros and cons of this place and the benefits.
What does it have to offer?
Which membership is better for the money out of the two?
Are there classes with trainers for free?
And over all is the experience and cost worth it?

-Lots of cardio equipment, and light weights.
-That's for you to decide.
-No classes, period, with or without trainers.
-Well, it's cheap, so unless they were to punch you in the groin and tell you to go home, you'll probably get your money's worth out of them.
In all seriousness, I'd recommend using the search feature, as there are about 345893597 threads with this exact premise in backlog.0 -
There are minimal classes, which are really how to use equipment. No instructor-led things, like Zumba or other aerobics. They freely admit in their introductory spiel that they are structured for first-time gym-goers, who are just getting into a workout routine.
I've been a member since the beginning of January, and it's all I need. But I'm not into heavy lifting or the group classes.
Pros: It's cheap, there's no contract for the lower membership level, and I have never had to wait for a piece of cardio equipment (though I did have to give "the look" to a couple of women who were using the machines in the 30 Minute Circuit area without actually doing the circuit because they were tying them up for those of us who WERE doing the circuit).
Cons: first time gym goers don't always wipe their machines0 -
I have a $10 membership no commitment at two different locations, one close to work and the other close to home...about an hour drive between them. They have enough equipment for me, it is always clean. They are busy, but I've never had to wait long for anything. They are independently owned and operated so each location differs some. The one by my office is nicer because it has iPod connections on all cardio equipment...it charges my iPod and allows me to go back and forth easily between music and TV.
They do have classes, but not many and they will help you set up a workout plan, but I wouldn't consider it training as they advertise.
I plan to cancel by October and join LA Fitness. I think I would enjoy the pool and classes there, but I didn't want to commit to the membership fee until I was sure I was doing this. I started thinking and acting healthier on 02/13/12 at 364 pounds.0
