Where the heck did the idea of excreting excess protein come from?
It depends on your body's needs when you eat it. Proteins come in short or long chains of amino acids. If a protein chain is broken apart, so your body can access one of the specific amino acids to use somewhere in your body, then the remainder of the broken chain is excreted by the body. If whole, unbroken amino acid chains aren't immediately needed by the body, then whole, unbroken chains are stored with lipid molecules for use later. But the unused broken pieces are waste, and eliminated.0 -
