Every chinese take away menu I seen has a 'lighter' section where it's either just steamed or no sauce but it significantly healthier than everything else on the menu.

I get the shrimp and broccoli dish, which also includes carrots and ****ake mushrooms.

I say eat what you like and just eat less of it. Make it a goal to eat whatever you want but not stuff yourself and feel bloated.

I am more proud of myself if I am able to take a situation like eating chineese food where in the past of would have eaten too much and now restrain myself and eat a normal portion. I think this takes way more self control than not eating at all or eating something you don't enjoy as some type of self torture.

Chinese takeaway is one of the times where I will eat whatever I want, not even in moderation! Its my favourite and we only really have it 4 times a year (the best one is by my mum's in another city). I pretty much go mad and love it! No regrets there!
  • if i order chinese i go all out.. i end up with fried pekinese chicken and fried rice. heck i need to live a little lol!!

I absolutely agree. As long as I'm not having it several times a week, I'm fine. I rarely eat take, but when I do, I get what I want; fried and all. I like to travel and when I go places I don't want to ask for baked chicken and broccoli all the time; "and what's the local favorite here"
  • Why not just have what you want...if it's once in a while, it's good to have a blow out and psych the body into not thinking of going into starvation mode. Then next day, get back onto MFP... x

Does this really work? seems like I behave all week, then have a bad day and it bumps the scale! Thought I was crazy!
  • One cooked cup of rice has between 200 and 300 calories (depending on which entry you look at) and no one eats only one cup of rice.

    Dang...no more rice.

If I cook rice at home I have one cup. I spread it out and lay the veggies on top and eat slow

Beef and broccoli is a good choice. Broccoli is a surprisingly good source of protein.
