I just lost 30 pounds!!! and am currently on maintenance.. which means the site allocated me 1690 cals without exercise...
my question is i have went on websites that calculated by BMR at 1440.. if thats true wouldnt eating more than my BMR cause weight gain??

By my understanding, BMR calculates the calories needed for the body to survive if you did nothing (includes only staying in bed). Adding 200+ cals to that doesn't seem unreasonable to me to accommodate your lifestyle and to maintain. Good luck. It's still part of the journey to get around this head-game of not wanting to undo all of the good work that you've already done. :flowerforyou:

Just an edit as an aside after rereading your post. If your BMR is 1440 on another site, it seems to me that you would need at least 1940 to maintain before exercise. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. You don't have to starve to maintain. Ok, other MFPs, what do you think?

Your BMR is not your "maintenance calories" unless you stay in bed all day long and don't move.

Your maintenance calories are your BMR PLUS what you burn during normal daily activity.

Trust MFP. It's been pretty accurate with my numbers. I over-analyze everything and do tons of research and then end up doing what this site said in the first place, as it's the info I see repeated most.
