dunno what "half-foods" are, but WHOLE foods are literally food in their natural state:

an apple, a carrot, raw nuts or seeds, a soybean, a piece of meat, intact (unrefined) brown rice, etc

To me (since opinions differ) tomatoes, cloves of garlic, and an onions are, for example, "whole" foods. A jar of Ragu is not. Most pre-packaged foods have additives and preservatives. In my opinion, making your own spaghetti sauce from "whole" ingredients is better for your health, digestion, blood sugar, etc. It's also possibly better for weight loss because you can control what ingredients you put in, based on your goals.

Basically, whole foods are foods that have not been processed and are as close to their natural state as possible. A whole chicken or chicken parts that you cook yourself would be a whole food. Chicken nuggets are not. Rolled oats are a whole foods. Lucky Charms are not. An apple is a whole food. Pretzels are not. You get the idea.

Whole foods do not have an ingredient list.

Fruits, vegetables, meats, oats, rice (plain, ingredients: rice, not the flavored stuff) and stuff like that.
  • Well explained thanks!
