We finally bought our first juicer! I am looking for some yummy recipes for juicing. And as a extra TASK for each of you who post, I'd like to know what health benefits there are to your recipe? For example, if you have a great tasting fruit juice with recipe that is supposed to cure "stupidity" I'd like to know how and why? Start posting

We have also bought a juicer, but it is still very new, and I don't have any favorite recipes yet. But I have found that carrots are very sweet and good to juice, and make it less necessary to put as much fruit in the juicer
Hoping for a lot of recipes here!
And I also wonder about how to count the calories in the juice?0 -

Can you elaborate on the health benefits of each? I cant see myself enjoying any recipe with Kale in it, but if it has a direct effect on blood pressure or heart health, I can choke it down once in while.0 -

I don't think there are any juices that cure stupidity. I juice because the micro nutrients are super-high in anti-oxidants, which makes my cells better able to fight off cancer. Kale is full of iron, which is really good for you too.
I juice for breakfast approx 4-5 times a week, and usually my recipe is something like this:
1 small beet (different kinds have different flavors. Some are sweeter.) You can substitute an apple if you want really sweet, and are new to juicing.
Greens, such as kale or chard. This is for the iron as well as antioxidants.
Ginger, which is also an antioxidant, but also fights colds, flu, etc. and tastes yummy!
Carrots which are also cancer-fighters.
Sometimes I throw in pomegranate seeds or some other treat to mix it up.
Just curious why you got a juicer. Do you have a goal in mind?
Juices can be very high in calories, so watch your portions!0 -
Madeamama gave a good response. I'm at work so didn't really have time to explain benefits. I'm new to juicing (just over a month) and my main reason for juicing personally to to get as much natural nutrients, iron especially that I normally don't get with my eveyday diet.
The three recipes I posted were just the green recipes I try. I also do a lot of things with carrots and beets etc... Like the other post, I also try to juice for breaskfast at least 3 times a week.
If you don't use Kale, you can always substitute with another green leaf.0 -

I got a lot of simple recipes here http://www.all-about-juicing.com/
My favorite juice "recipes" are:
1) 2-3 oranges (peeled) & 1 grapefruit (peeled)
2) 4 or so carrots & 1-2 apples (cored)
3) Mean Green Juice:
1 cucumber
4 celery stalks
2 apples (cored)
6-8 leaves kale (or spinach or collards)
1/2 lemon (I don't bother to peel it)
1" ginger root0 -
my favorite recipe is 4 carrots, 2 apples (i use gala), and an inch or so of ginger (i normally use more ginger cause i like it), every now and again i add a beet.
i've juiced the following individually and together: pineapple, oranges, and grapefruit. sometimes i'll add a bit of lemon to the orange.
i've tried green juices and i'll be honest i dislike every single last one that i've tried. good luck with that. i don't know what the benefits are i just really enjoy fresh juice. especially carrot.0 -
Yeah, im not a big fan of green tasting foods, but if they have real benefits, I will chock some down.0
