Does being "sore" make my weight higher?

I'm just curious what you all have noticed. I've noticed when I'm sore, my weight is higher. Is this from building muscle or from water retention? It's only a one pound difference but I was hoping for a loss this week and when I jumped on the scale, I was up a pound.

Usually its from water retention as your muscles repair themselves.0

^^ This. Nothing unusual about gaining a pound or two after a heavy exercise day. You can either skip that day as a weigh in or weigh in and make a mental note that you're up from a bit of muscle repair fluids. I think it's a good mental exercise to weigh in anyway. You can't be totally obsessed with the number on the scale because there are so many other markers that tell you you're doing the right thing. Your weight is just one of them.0 -
Water retention and repair of muscles, wait at least a few days to weigh in or after a workout and see if it makes a difference0

Been having that, too, after my weekend warrior situation. it's the inflammation/water retention of the muscles being inflamed and repairing themselves. But even KNOWING that, I tend to feel frustrated. The scale has limitations on what it can show us, but dammit, after being so good on both diet and exercise, I don't want to feel punished!0

I noticed this too and was quite depressed but weighed myself two days later (rest days) and noticed that I had lost a kilogram. I now only weigh myself after my rest days as I train quite hard during the week.0

If you find weighing in to be counteractive, you might want to find a nice dark corner and have your scale take a vacation for a while. Stick with diet and pushing yourself in your workouts. Take measurements and weigh today, then a month later. Less stress.0 -
Yeah, it's water weight. I've been up as much as 6 pounds the day after a fierce leg workout. Try not to freak about it, keep doing what you're doing and it'll come off.0
