Anyone had braces out there?

Just wondering if anyone else had high anxiety almost a fear over them coming off?

Had my braces 4.5 years! (2.5 was the original estimate) but my teeth, being that I'm an adult (ages 28-32), first go around, paid for them myself CASH! ..took longer..

Anyways my braces *feel* like they have become my teeth... so I have this irrational fear that they are going to pull my 'teeth' outta my head...:(

I'm I a freak? or is this normal...?

I had them when I was a teen for a number of years. They did sort of feel like they were part of my teeth, but I knew they weren't because I'd had the brackets pop off before. I will say that the glue is mighty strong stuff. It didn't hurt to have them taken off, but, well, if you are like me and the sound of two hard things scraping against each other gets to you, then you probably won't enjoy the sounds that removing them makes. My teeth felt HUGE when the braces came off. I'm told this is normal and common. They aren't really any bigger than they were when it started.

I know how you feel. When I had braces (for 2+ years) I was nervous about having them off and it did feel really weird for a while.

But you find that you smile more...you can eat what you want again! and it isn't as bad as you are expecting when they are taking them off! Trust me :)
