Is there anyone that rides horses? Have you looked at the cal. burned with horses? My poor horse has been getting ridden alot more now.

  • I'm a professional trainer but I don't understand your question. Are you asking about calories burned for yourself or your horse?
  • I'm in the saddle about 7 hours a day. As for how many calories you're burning, I couldn't say. I have no idea what type of riding you're doing, how long you're doing it, how much you weigh, how fit you are, and whether you are expending a lot of energy with poor mechanics. All those things are factors. If you answer those though, I'll do my best to take a good guess for you.

They do have the "calorie count" for grooming, walking, trotting and general. I am an instructor/trainer and have been riding for years. Although I like the extra calorie count, I don't use it as part of my daily exercise count. Enjoy the time with your horse and enjoy the muscle tone that can come with riding and taking care of horses.
