Losing and gaining... figuring out the scale

Hi all,

So I'm taking a body sculpting class twice a week that is basically a class focused on weight training with the addition of cardio spurts. In addition to this I try to make it to the gym every day and just do cardio. On days that I have the class I go for about 30 mins, all other days I go for about an hour. I've been doing this for almost a month now and I'm not really seeing results on the scale. (i'd like to lose about 40-50 pounds.) I know that this is partially due to the fact that I'm gaining muscle as I can tell that I'm becoming stronger and my endurance is improving. I'm wondering what I could do to put more emphasis on the weight loss part as that is the main priority in all of this. If anyone has advice on what to focus on I'd really appreciate it! I guess I'm wondering when I'll reach a place where I'm no longer building enough muscle to gain weight and I'm just losing fat. Additionally my diet has been healthy over this time and I've had a significant deficit on most days.

Are you using a tape measure? It's more important than what the scale says if you are working out.

One thing that depends how fast you lose weight is how much you actually weigh now. Obese people tend to lose weight a lot quicker than thinner people. If you are anything less than 200 pounds, it may be harder to lose weight as fast as you would like too.
Another thing is how many calories are you eating in a day, eating more than what you exercise or eating too little can also slow down progress. Or even eating the amount of your tdee, you may not lose or gain weight, but turn fat into muscle.
