Eating clean/Eating more calories to really tone up

I have recently met my goal weight and am fairly happy with how I look. I still think I have some spots that could use some toning up though and still feel as if my stomach is still in that 'skinny fat' phase where I'm not 'fat' by most terms but I'm just soft and not toned at all.
My trainer suggested upping my calories (I eat 1450 on rest days, try to eat 1700 on work out days) but I think he actually wants me at 1700 every day, even more if I work out.
I'd like some tips on eating clean, eating healthy and finding calorie rich foods, recipes that aren't gross or bland.
Any advice would be helpful!
