I can't get calories in because I'm STRESSED!

I just had to write this because I've seen too many other people having problems getting their calories in. I want to say to all the people who post nasty comments like " how did you get fat if now you can't eat enough calories"? That is NOT supportive and very
rude!
I myself am not eating like I should & I can't get all my calories most days. I AM TRYING. I WILL TELL YOU WHY.....

I just moved 4 months ago to a place with no friends/family. Just went through a break up after 16yrs. I am trying to paint and
house all by myself. Most days, I'm so busy, I barely sit .

We should not be so judgemental of each other and don't know what is going on In someone else's lives. The snide comments
are not appreciated!

Although I do try to stick to the same calories every day just to keep a regimen and some accountability, you have to understand that you know what? Sometimes you will go to that buffet with your friends and you won't get your calorie count right, or you will have dessert on that special date and you didn't exercise enough to have accounted for it earlier in the day.

So...right now.. you are not meeting your goal calories. Based on the fact that it's OK to take into account fluctuation, at least in my opinion, I wouldn't worry about it... unless you're missing them by more than half and you've been doing that for weeks.

If you're really worried about it then I would assume you would learn about protein shakes and nuts (300 calories for a handful), avocado, super dense calories. So when you do eat you're really packing it in.

Sometimes, like today, I'm just not hungry. So I actually have 800 calories left because I went to the gym and rode my bike earlier in the day too. But two nights ago I went drinking and I was about 1000 calories over.......

listen to your body and good luck in your new spot!

    - set a timer to remind yourself to eat
    - eat more calorie dense foods like complete eggs and avocadoes and avoid anything fake low fat or low calorie stuff

where there's a will there's a way. i think most of us got here (ie weighing too much) by making excuses. there will always be reasons why you can't make your goals. the difference between failing and success to getting stuff done in spite of those reasons and mot times that comes down to choice.

^^^ I agree with this advice

I totally understand... I have PTSD which is a lot better nowadays (thank God!) but when it was bad I found it really hard to eat. And also, one reason why I got fat was because I was alternating between undereating (accidentally, because of stress and not looking after myself due to my mind being basically stuck in a bad situation in the past) and compensatory overeating (i.e. times when I felt less stressed and my appetite came back) so I totally agree it's way too simplistic to say "you got fat by overeating, so how can you say you can't eat enough now". I really struggled to eat enough, but I forced myself and it really helped a lot with getting the excess fat off. And sometimes I still have issues with this, and I still have to be careful, but the above advice which I quoted helps. If you can't eat a large volume of food due to stress, then you need to eat things that are healthy but have a higher calorie density, so you get your calories from a smaller quantity of food. There's only so much food you can cram into your mouth without feeling nauseous and if you're really stressed, that's going to happen more quickly. Also I found eating frequent small meals was better than trying to eat a large meal, which simply didn't happen.

Also, heavy lifting has been great for getting rid of PTSD symptoms, because a lot of them are caused by having too many stress hormones in the system and strenuous exercise really helps with that. It's not a cure but I feel so much better for doing it, and that's after doing therapy, which also helped a lot but didn't get rid of it altogether. So anyone who's stressed IMO should at least try doing strenuous exercise to see if that helps. Plus healthy eating helps too, as the brain is an organ in the body and needs to be fed properly just like any other. The brain needs a lot of healthy fat and it needs enough carbohydrate to function well.

    Chill babe..

If you're feeling stressed lift some weights, punch the crap outta something but rid yourself of the stress if you can.

I have boxing gloves and pads and when I'm stressed I beat the crap out of my husband ( wearing the pads of course)
