Yo yo weight loss and gain, anyone?

Hi, everyone!
So I have finally started to try and lose weight.
I'm 5'5 and starting out at 150 lbs (so I'm not obese but I no longer have my flat stomach either! )
This was all caused by the obvious - me eating the quick fatty meals and not doing enough exercise. So I am well aware of my sinning!
I would love to get to somewhere in the 132-136 lbs area (purely for the fact that I remember being happy at this weight).
I have been gaining weight quite steadily through the last two years and now it must come to an end!
My problem is that my weight quite likes to yo yo up and down . As an example; when I started out at 150 (68 kg) I lost 4,4 pounds in just two days. So I was well psyched - but then I gained two pounds about a day after that (no sinning involved, I swear!). Quite the discourager when you're just thinking that you're doing well!
I am eating right (mainly omelette or greek yoghurt for breakfast, salad for lunch, and vegestables with fish or chicken for dinner. Snacks include fruit, celery or carrot sticks). I'm not exercising like I should quite yet, but that will come as soon as I can make a bit of time for it on set days.
I realise that the weight gain might be because I drank a lot of water being ill that speific day, but now I'm just kind of stuck on 147,7 lbs.
Anyone in the same situation? What do you guys do to keep going? Does you weight tend to do the same or are you more in control? Any good tips or advice is appreciated!

Hi you have my sympathy, it can be very disheartening when the weight does not come off despite doing everything right. Hang on in there it will come off. You might need to up your exercise though to kick start your metabolism. Your body might be 'panicking' and storing fat tat the moment due to diet changes. If so, this is temporary and should sort itself in a few weeks. Good Luck hun!

Hi! I have the same problem. I just had a baby 5 months ago and have lost 10 pounds since. After my first child I got down to approximately 140. I did this by eating smart and exercising. Over the years I have seen my weight yo-yo from 135-155. I have a draw full of jeans in three different sizes! I'm 26 years old, 5'5", currently 152 pounds and have an athletic body type. I'd say we're in the same boat. Maybe we could help each other out!0

I've been going thru this since the middle of September, but I'm looking for it to chnge this month anf I get back to a consistent loss each week.
Try not to weigh yourlself but once a week. I know it may be hard, but try and do it the same time once a week. I usually do early morning.0 -
It's good to have a goal weight you remember being happy at. That helps me a lot.
You're in the harder range anyway, with not that much to lose. So it's a trial. Yes, the scale will go up and down if you weigh in every day and even if you weigh in every week sometimes the stupid thing just won't move.
If you just started or intensified exercise you will also gain and hold water weight which will just hang around until it feels like leaving. Just ignore it.
A woman's monthly cycle, how much salt was in the food of the day before, and even how late at night you last ate a meal can cause weight to fluctuate.
Also sometimes the scale just hates us. Use a measuring tape and go by how your clothes fit if the scale makes you crazy. Results show up slower, but they're more reliable.0 -
Thank you for the feedback, folks!
Love how friendly and understanding people are on here:)
It helps to hear that I'm not the only one going through a bit of a stall sometimes, and it does make we want to work harder.
Hopefully I will get started with some more exercise this week, when the remains of the flu leave my body.Unfortunately I live about 45 minutes from the nearest fitness center, so all my exercises will have to be done at home (though I do have a decent exercise bike and some nice forest areas around for long walks I cannot do any running because of an old football injury ) but hey, it's better than nothing.
I know I should only weigh in about once a week, but it's soooo hard not to step on those scales and see how you're getting along. I need to work on my will power with that one :P0 -

Dernbach - we're in the same boat and I can totally relate! Got so many lovely pairs of jeans that I would love to fit into again, and I just can't stand having to suffer to get into them and when I finally do (after about 10 minutes of struggling) all of my belly fat looks VERY unflattering! I want to get out of my jeggins and stretch pants and get back into proper jeans!
Totally in for motivating each other and helping out whereever we can (don't quite know how this site works yet, but you can maybe add me or something?0 -
Drives me crazy that people weigh themselves so much. It's just stupid. Your body fluctuates 2-5 pounds on the regular. If your strength training you will gain muscle ( which weighs more than fat) and lose fat. You need to pay attention to your measurements. That's the important thing and also eating clean. You won't get the same results with eating junk, as you do eating clean. And you need to EAT. Seek ye out helloitsdan. And find out what your doing wrong. Hesvhelpedvthousands of people.
