So one time at band camp…just kidding.

I got orders to Sigonella Italy and reported to medical to get my physical (military). I took a pee test and was in the room with the nurse who was just about to give me my vaccinations. The Doctor runs in shouting ‘No! No! stop, she’s HCG positive!!!’
I fell off the table and went into instant hysteria, crying, my life was over! The nurse looked at me and went “this isn’t the end of the world, young women have babies all the time, you’ll be fine”. Babies? I stopped crying and asked, “You mean I’m not HIV positive?”

I was 18 at the time, never heard of HCG and with the Doctor screaming, I could have sworn he said HIV.
