I worked with my doctor, going by their charts and my frame size we decided 270-300 would be a healthy weight for me for my size. If I get down there and can still cut more fat, then we'll worry about that then. right now I'm focusing on losing the last 207 pounds.0

my former weight when i was 18 was 125-135lbs back and forth, and well i quit smoking and went on birth control. and i gained a nice few lbs, put my at my largest to 205lbs im now at 178lbs and im still thriving for the 130's or max 140. then ill be content, i'm a short person so im overweight and it doesnt look good AT ALL. so i wanna get back to looking good. hopefully by summer0

It was the weight I felt my best at. I have reached it but now it's more about health and toning0

Originally my goal was on the low end of BMI - range (170). Then toward the high end (190). Then I saw a photo of sombeody my height and at 225 and I thought that is about where I wanted to be... When I got there (a 119 lb loss), I felt that FOR NOW, another 10 lbs would bring me closer to the fat percentage I am looking for THEN I will try to gain into the 225 range doing it the right way... It is a moving target for me... So for now, my target is 215 but that is 15 lbs above the high point of my BMI range...0

I have a large, broad frame and a large chest. I picked the top of the BMI range for my height. I've never been at a healthy weight as an adult. As I am approaching my goal, I'm not sure if I'll change it or not. I may go about 10 lbs. lower, or I may just focus more on building muscle and cutting fat. It will depend on how I look when I get there.0

I was 140 when I got married and was pretty happy at my weight, I have decided 150 b/c my bodies changed a lot since having kids, I am 170 so 20 lbs to go, but I may change my mind when I reach my goal for less, but as of right now I am a size 11 which is what I was when I was 155 so who knows. I want to say definitely that I want to be 150 but like other posts I think sometimes you adjust it once you get to your goal and see how you feel about it and decide if you need to be a little more or a little less.0

Interesting! It tells me I can be 10 lbs. heavier (based on my BF and weight last July and my ultimate BF target). That assumes of course that I was able to maintain my lean mass. Maybe I should get my BF tested again sooner than I planned to see how realistic that goal is :-)0 -
Hi!
I set my goal to lose 30 pounds by age 30. I started at 175 pounds. I had started in my birthday month, giving myself 12 months to lose the 30 pounds. That would be more than I ever loss at one time. However, I reached the goal about 3 months ago. I knew my lowest healthy bmi for my 5'5" pear shape body was 114 pounds. I decided to make 115 pounds my new weight goal. I have loss another 14 pounds since making that goal. I'm only 11 pounds away from reaching my goal. : )
Keep in mind that many things factor in with making the decision I made personally for myself. For one, I am a smaller frame. I'm not too tall to go for a 115 pound weight. I have more muscle than most woman at my current weight, so I may decide to stop earlier than 115 pounds. Being a pear shape....my stomach slimmed down quickly, and it is looking very small in proportion to my hips, which make family and friends worry. However, I'm still loose and need to get tighter in my lower body. So, it depends. What body type are you? How fit are you? You should ask yourself, what size jeans or shirts would I'd like to fit into? I never want to get down to a size 3 because that's just not me nor my body type. I'd be too skinny and underweight. My goal is size 5 jeans/pants and extra small top (Which I already fit). This goal, I feel, is good for my body type.0 -
I picked the weight I was when I was in college, before I had my kiddos.0

This is a great question!!!
I used the BMI Chart and my doctor. She said that I should aim for 155-165 for my frame. (she even said 175 would be healthy)
The BMI charts are not perfect though. They don't account for lots of muscle. (Which I want to have and I am starting to get again).
I have changed my goal a few times. I think it should be more like a range. Maybe then once I get closer to that range I can see how I feel and how I look. If I have more fat to lose then I will keep going.0 -
I did several bodyfat tests (caliper, Navy, etc), and picked an average between all of them to reach a 15-20% bodyfat goal.
That's why my goal weight is 300 rather than something lower - I made sure I knew where I was starting from instead of setting a possibly unattainable goal.0 -
The weight I was at when I look back to that time and think "oh god I thought I was fat...." 4 and a bit stone later...0

I chose it according to my height (5'4), healthy BMI range and how much I weighed in high school. I'm aiming for 135-145 since I know that the majority of any weight I didn't loose would be muscle gain. I'm more focused on measurements than the number on the scale to be honest.0

I picked the weight I was maintaining when I was most active. Of course, even then I thought I was a fat, disgusting mess of a human being... luckily my outlook on life has brightened a bit since those days.0

I have a number in mind that is attainable. Using MFP's BMI calculator the number is alot lower so we'll see as I get closer to that number. Also I'm working out alot more than I have in along time, so with all this nutrition knowledge and weight training info well we shall see.
Im 5' 4"0 -
I weighed as little as 115 in high school (I am 5'7") but that took a lot of starvation. I chose my goal weight of 140 because that's where I felt I looked good and it wasn't too difficult to maintain.0
-
I picked the weight that would get me just under the "overweight" BMI category. When I get there, I will evaluate and possibily set a lower goal.
Good luck!0 -
Ultimately, I chose a body fat percentage in conjunction with a weight goal. My goal weight, though, would put me back at 185 lbs and 7% body fat. According to worthless BMI charts, I'd be obese. Know what? I don't care how it categorizes me because a range of 122 to 161 lbs is too small even for my small frame.0
-
I used the "average" weight of a person who is my height and build (Big boned lol) which was 175- but recently- I had a test done that showed my bone density with muscle was around 210 lbs... So I will have to lose muscle to get to goal weight.... Idk. Still aiming for 1750

Basically this
I know what I look like at 140lbs and I'd like to be less so I started with 135 as a goal.
Probably will go to 130 but I don't know really0 -
In high school I weighed 120, so I figured 130 was a good weight0

Two years ago, when I first lost weight, I was just tired of being fat and appalled at myself that I'd gotten to 200 pounds. I didn't really have a goal. Got down to 165 and decided to try to stick within a few pounds of that for a while, since I'd been eating at a deficit for 6 months and thought I should give my body a break.
Now I want to get down to 150-155 and see if I can lose belly fat and maybe run a little faster. Started at 170, am about 166 now. 5'7".0 -
I pondered it while eating this
hot dogs + sharp cheddar + lean hamburg + Thick cut hickory bacon + Sweet Baby rays bbq sauce + TURTLE BURGERS!
made mac n cheese with bacon bits stuffed jalapeno meatloaf wrapped in apple cider cured BACON!! It...was...epic!!!!

I was highly scientific about the whole process:
1 ton divided by 8 equals 250.
That seems like a good goal to have0 -
i picked my high school weight0
