Any ideas? the MFP app doesn't give this info.

I know there are a lot of factors- your weight, the weight you are using, how many sets/reps etc. If you are lifting, even if it's light/moderate weight, you are still burning calories that need to be replaced, which is why I'm wondering.

I think the best way to do it is with a HRM - but unfortunately it has to be a chest strap monitor :(

I used a wrist strap HRM that you have to touch in order to get a reading, however then you end up taking readings before and after a set and for me if I am doing heavy deadlifts or squats my HR shoots up so it gives false readings cause it will come back down pretty quick.

there is a weight lifting option under cardiovascular

I just take it as 'extra' calories burned that will contribute to my weight loss that I don't measure because the 'weight training' on MFP under cardio I think isn't very accurate because weight training can vary so much from person to person and day to day with lifting.

Jason that's how I've been treating it so far,too many variables. Even time between sets to recover- when you are going heavy, it takes longer, your heart rate comes down, etc.

I'll look for that weight training option under cardiovascular. At least I can get a ball park figure. It's more about adjusting my calories to compensate.

The main thing is getting motivated do get on a regular lifting routine again. The weights sit in the basement and call me... I spent so much time lifting in the past that it was a huge part of my life and I need to get back to it in addition to the cardio I've been concentrating on.
