Somewhere (I thought here on MFP, but maybe not) I had seen a logical realistic chart showing what goal you should chose based on how much weight you have to lose.

Example: 100 or more pounds: chose 2lbs/week goal

Can someone site a source that shows something like this? Thanks!!!!!

I've seen it said in many places that you should lose at most 1% of your body weight per week (so if you weigh 200 pounds, that's 2 lbs/week; if you weigh 150 pounds, that's 1.5 lbs/week).

Also, if you're friends with LorinaLynn, this is what she says about how much to lose:
If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal (1000 calorie deficit). If you have 40-75 lbs to lose 1.5 lbs/week is ideal (750 calorie deficit). If you have 25-40 lbs to lose 1 lbs/week is ideal (500 calories). If you have 15 -25 lbs to lose 0.5 to 1.0 lbs/week is ideal (500-250). If you have less than 15 lbs to lose 0.5 lbs/week is ideal (250).

Here's her blog post on the subject: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/LorinaLynn/view/food-and-calories-and-all-kinds-of-stuff-like-that-there-451995

    Hope that helps!
