My diet has been a weird one (never seen it before). Each week I would stop eating/drinking a certain type of thing. First week it was the fizzy drinks, second week was chocolate, third was take-aways and so on.

But this is what I don’t get…

Fizzys – Knew I wouldn’t miss them, no problem there. Likewise with Takeaways.
Chocolate – I don’t miss it…WHAT?!? I thought it would be a nightmare but it has been so easy.

So I’m really running out of things I can take out of my old lifestyle but there was one thing remaining...lurking even….CAFFEINE! So this week I stopped the one thing I thought I could never, ever in a MILLION years EVER stop. Oh my god I’ve managed it the whole week without a single slurp of caffeine.

My sleeping is sooooo much better and I’m not getting any cravings for caffeine or anything else. I don't get it! Have I finally lost my mind and am I stuck in some twilight-zone, ga-ga land made up of pixies and pink elephants?? I haven’t seen any yet but maybe I should start looking!

You are in the twilight zone. But it's okay, it's a good place to be healthy. :)

That's great!!! I didn't really drink a lot of caffeine other than sodas (Dr Pepper is my weakness) but I did drink the occasional coffee and I've cut all those out and strangely, I'm MORE awake than when I drank those... why? Excessive sugar! Cut that out and you're not as tired, mopey, sleepy, etc.! :) Cutting caffeine and sugar really is great. I love it. I always feel better.
  • I gave up chocolate from the 1st day, the only time I have any is if it is sugar free pudding cups, or Murrays sugar free vanilla wafer cookies. Now caffeine is a different story, i will admit i have cut down dramatically going from 8-10 cups a day to just 4, but I never had the problem of it keeping me up. I still have a cup of coffee before bed each night, but i no longer put sugar in it anymore. Now I use 1/2 packet of splenda or truvia depending on the taste I want and only use unsweetened soy milk. I never realized how much sugar I used before but now i find I have more energy all through my day and night, which is good because I work a mix of days/nights. Another great adition I made to my new way of eating was whole or multi grains.

I agree!! I was a 3 cup/day coffee drinker (with sweet-n-low) and then 1 or 2 diet sodas for lunch... no sugar, but still I figured all that caffeine and artificial junk couldn't be good for me. I've been coffee free for 3 weeks now and maybe drink 2 diet sodas a WEEK (I love diet gingerale).
I sleep better and wake up feeling refreshed... imagine that!
