Mudathlons - Get me pumped!

I have officially scheduled my first two "races." April 13th is my first 5K and June 29th is my first Mudathlon. If anyone has done a Mudathlon, please share your stories. Is it absolutely awful? Or is it absolutely amazing? I'm a little worried about the whole being covered in mud in 90 degree weather.....
