Water is my choice. A shake mixed with water isn't necessarily the yummiest, most delicious treat in the world, but it tastes good enough to drink it, which is all I really need. If I'm drinking a protein shake, it's to help me hit my protein macro - I don't add a bunch of other stuff in there to jack up the carb and fat counts. If I want carbs and fats, I'll save those calories and have a PB&J sandwich with it instead.
Right now all I'm putting is water and it tastes pretty good. But I'm getting tired of drinking the same shake twice a day. I think I'll be buying strawberries and cream this weekend

I'm a fan of protein powder, so here are some of favorites for chocolate:

    Soy or Almond milk
Soy or Almond milk and ice (blend into a smoothie)
Soy or Almond milk and a banana
Vanilla soy milk, maraschino cherries, ice (blend.. it's like a chocolate cherry shake and soooo good!)
    Hot coffee, soy milk
Iced coffee, soy milk, ice (blended or just on the rocks)
    Almond milk, peanut butter (blended)
    Almond milk, banana (blended)
Soy milk, banana, and peanut butter (blended)
Stir it into peanut butter and eat it on low cal bread
Stir it into pancake batter, use sugar free syrup
Add it to steamed vanilla soy milk to make hot cocoa

    Reeses Peanut Butter Smoothy

1 or 2 Tbsps peanut butter
    1 scoop chocolate protein powder
    1/2 banana
    1 cup unsweetened almond milk
    1 Tbsp Hersheys Chocolate Syrup
    ice cubes

It is so good. I watched them make it at a smoothy stand and copied it.

You can add so many things to your shake it would be too long for me to list them all... mainly fruit, peanut butter, oats, and whole milk go well.

But hell, if you're not in the mood for a shake and rather eat something, just add it to a bowl of oatmeal or a bowl of cottage cheese(great meal before going to sleep).

milk and frozen banana slices makes it taste juuuuust like a regular choclate shake... But i've added peanut butter, other fruits, spinach, oatmeal, cinnamon... You can pretty much through anything in the blender with it and it will taste good..

I use milk, but it would work with water as well, then add a cup of raspberries(fresh or frozen) or frozen cherries. My son likes to add chocolate syrup to his, but he is a teenager and trying to gain weight for football.
