Counting calories and portions

I like MFP, but one thing I struggle with is portions.
Everything you look up have different portion sizes, eg Ounce, Cup etc.
Would it not be a lot easier if you work by weight.

Any suggestions on how counting can be nmade easier?

I work by weight and I weigh most things when I'm at home. Doing it that way allows you to have more control on portion sizes. You will find a lot of Aussies have put food in the data base and it usually is in grams. I know I've added heaps of nutrition details for different foods, so there's plenty in the data base you may just have to find them at first and then they will be listed in your most recent list, so it becomes easier to count and log over time. :)

So true. I would love to have a ounce to gram to cup, etc. calculator on the data base so I can check the numbers more easily. Often the data in the database is incorrect, so I always try to compare with a reputable site like Livestrong or the USDA site (U.S. Dept of Agriculture) but even with that it gets all crazy when the methods of measuring aren't the same.

Apparently many people who put food in the database don't care about anything except calories, because I often find the calories are correct, but the fat and protein are way off! I am slowly collecting confirmed foods in the my foods tab so I don't have to depend on the data base.
