Healthy alternatives for cream in the UK

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for alternatives to cream in savoury recipes?

I'm making a stroganoff tonight to use up some meat but it requires double cream, which is high in fat I know.

I thought it might be useful to learn for the future LOL

Thanks

Sometimes, I use plain yogurt. I also use beef or chicken broth in place of cream. Or, a can of plain, no sugar added tomato sauce. Coconut milk or almond milk (unsweetened) can also work, depending on the recipe. It does change the texture of the recipe, but sometimes it is quite delightful.

    Greek yogurt

yep, this. My mom always made stroganoff with yogurt anyway, and I like it so much better than the cream recipes.

Maybe not in your stroganoff, but I've found that Butternut Squash makes a really creamy sauce for pasta or rice etc. It tastes really creamy when you blend it up :-)

Elmlea is a reasonable alternative. But my favourite is low fat creme fraiche.

if we're talking recipes I sub in greek yogurt

If we're talking coffee, clotted cream is the only substitute for real cream (noms, I miss traveling to England)
