Tired? :(

Wanted: Your Opinions (or facts) Pleaseeeeeeeee
I've been working out for exactly one month today- mostly cardio- it's taking me a long time to get into the swing of strength training but that's next..........anyway I'm on 1500 calories and Im exercising at least 40 minutes a day/ at least 5x a week. I've lost 8 pounds so far..........veryyyyyy slowlyyyyyyyyy. I'm not seeing much tone or changes visually- (hence why I need to start strength training) but I am sooooooooooooooooooo tired! I used to hop out of bed, now I crawl. When I'm AWAKE I feel stronger, but not so much having more energy. I can easily get up all the stairs at my job (4 flights) so that's a plus- but I'd rather walk the stairs to go back to bed! :indifferent:
Everyone else has abundant energy it seems, clothes are getting smaller, seeing muslces pop and I'm just getting tired. I've slept like clock work for 6 1/2 hours every night for yearssssss......(10plus) and that has been my magic number.
Do you think I just need MORE SLEEP? Because I feel like I could sleep for 10 hours
but then again it's extremely cold with little sunlight I see throughout the day where I'm from so that can be it too- OR do you think I should change up my diet a bit?
I'm wondering if others have had these sorts of changes and if you found the cause. More sleep would mean cutting into my gym time a bit and I DON'T want to do that.
Please let me know what you think or what you think I should try.....
Thanks much!

I'm guessing "All of the Above" - not getting enough sunlight, needing just a bit more sleep (even 20 mins more can make a huge difference but everyone is different). I didn't look at your diet, but I'd look at the amount of protein you're taking in and maybe up that a bit.
An 8-pound loss in one month is great - way to go!0 -
You may want to take a look at what you're eating and be sure you're getting enough protein and complex carbs to support your new active lifestyle. Other than that-sleep more! You're body needs more time to recover from all the fitness you're throwing at it.0

You're not sick are you? Not to be the negative nancy here, but overwhelming fatigue is a pretty tell tale symptom of mono.0
-
Are you eating back your exercise calories?
ETA: also, 8 lbs in a months is pretty amazeballs.0 -
What everyone else said. Also mention to your doctor next time you see him or her. I was a walking zombie for a while. Turned out my iron and D were a bit low. You could simply be low in something. Are you taking a multi vitamin?0

Definitely not sick, I work in the health field- that's closely monitored . Believe me the whole world knows when I'm sick- and it's rarely ever. (knocks on wood)0 -

Yep- I'm taking a multi-vitamin....this is the first thing I thought of though as well. Maybe I should get them checked just to make certain.0 -
I don't think you're eating enough.
If you're working out that much, only eating 1500 calories, and not eating back your exercise calories... you're running out of gas.0 -

Thank ya! I'm learning how to have patience with this all.....it seems so slow when I'm working so hard- but I'm learning the slower the better....
I do NOT eat back my exercise calories- sometimes I will a bit but never all of them.0 -
Looks like you're typically anywhere from 100-600 calories under your goal for the day. What would you think about eating a bit more? If you already have MFP set to give you a deficit, increasing it by not eating your goal might make you feel tired. I drag when I don't eat enough.
As for what to eat, previous posters have good suggestions. I will add that the more servings of veggies I get in a day, the better I tend to feel.0 -

Then you're probably creating too large a deficit. Try eating back at least half of them. I eat most if not all of my exercise cals, keeping my NET intake at about 1500/day, and have been losing consistently, AND have lots of energy to get through the day and stick to my intense workouts You might want to try it for a few weeks and see how you feel!0 -
are you taking your multivitamin, vit B? High protein diet? It took me almost 6 months before I felt like I had energy, was tired all the time. Use to take naps throughout the day. Now I dont nap cant say I bounce out of bed in the morning but I'm awake and feeling refreshed. Keep at it, your energy will come. You might want to see a doctor and get your blood tested to see if there is something your missing (ie iron, vit etc.)0

I was thinking maybe I should up them a bit- I always seem to fall under a bit too- maybe just trying to eat exactly 1500 may help. I'm so new to all this-it would just be so much easier to eat more if I was seeing/feeling more results.0 -
I'd eat a bit more, definitely try to eat back exercise. Don't know if you need more sleep but hey, if your schedule allows another 30 minutes zzzzz why not?0

I'm up for it- I will try to get more veggies in because I'm lacking with veggies anyway I feel. I'm not feeling so great about eating more because I haven't seen much in the way of results.....but then again, I started this with 1200 calories and so what do I know! lol!.....I'm up for trying whatever people who have DONE IT or DO IT suggest. So thank you! :flowerforyou:0 -

Sounds good! I'll try it........ Someone else told me NOT to eat back my exercise calories. I get so confused because I see everyone has gotten excellent results and are in shape! I will try this though because now that I look I am falling below most days even without eating my calories back. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!0 -

I've been told it takes time by others too since I basically went from being lazy to turning it up almost everyday so I may be really tired at first but I DO NOT like this tired feeling at all- I have tooo much to do in a day so the fact that you say it will come eventually is inspiring- It sounds like I have to try and get closer to my 1500 too so I'm going to try that as well. And I will get my blood tested as well.
Thanks for the insight - it's very helpful :flowerforyou:
OOOPS and yep- I take a multivitamin...0
