So I have lost almost 70 lbs and now the weight loss has just stopped. I have weighed the same since November. Thru my weight loss I have eaten 1200 calories and day and never ate back my exercise calories. Everyone I talk to thinks I don' t eat enough calories because my body is so much different now than it was when I weighed more. I am thinking of increasing my calories to 1350-1400 a day but soooo scared that I will gain weight back. Has anyone else gone thru this emotional moment of desperate to try it but scared to gain everything you achieved back?

first, great job on the 68lbs!!! second, although I have not lost nearly what you have, I did start out at 1200 calories for about 3 weeks and I had lost about 7lbs.

After people saying that wast enough I did up my cals and when I did (this is the part you need to listen to) I gained some weight back! BUT it wasnt all, and I ended up leveling out after 2-3 weeks and started losing again. DO NOT FREAK OUT if you gain 5lbs back or so.

You had better longevisty with 1200 calories than I did - lost about 45 of my 74 eating that way. I faced the exact same terror as you when I plateaued for 4 months - upped based on TDEE (to 1800) and put the scale away for 30 days. At the end fo the 30 days I had lost 2 more pounds and continue to lose many months later. Congrats on your current success and future success too! You can do this - just give it a try!

Your body is so used to the routine which is why you are at a standstill. You will not gain weight back (the way you think you will) by eating a couple hundred extra calories.

You don't gain the weight back, you will still be at a great deficient. And really, what do you have to loose?

have you thought about recalculating your cal based on your new weight? (using it as your starting weight) From what I understand, your body needs a different calorie amount once you weigh less.

Recalculate your numbers, take a week or two where you are eating your Total Daily Energy Expenditure, and then start in again. Your weight will probably take a hop up when you add the calories, but don't worry about that. The weight gain is mostly your glycogen stores filling up.

Also, if you haven't switched out your exercise routines, it would be good to start something new when you start in again. Your body is used to what you've been doing and you need to shake things up to get moving again.

Try it for a month... If it doesn't work for you then go back to doing what you are doing :) best of luck.

Ok this is so interesting....I had mine set up to loose 2 pds a week (which automatically goes to 1200) when I changed it to 1 pd per week it went to 1280. This is my old record. I for the heck of it created a new account with my starting weight and oddly when I put 1 pd per week it said 1340!!! Soooo I think something is up when your starting weight is different than weight you loss! that makes me feel so much bettter! thanks for the tip!!!
