Net Calories Question

There is lot of discussion going around about the Calories intake. Anyway, MFP suggested I should be taking 1200/day and am totally OK with it. At days, even if it gets higher to 1500-1600, I dont take the stress.

However, I just realized that MFP suggestion is Net Calories of 1200/day. But usually my entire Calories would be around that number and my net calories are bit low to that number.

For instance, past 2 days, my Net = Total - Exercise were between 400-600 and today its 950. though my total is around 1200.

Please suggest if am going wrong anywhere. I dont want to starve at the same time, dont want to eat too much either!! Also, need suggestion on how to keep Sodium macro visible in my diary.

P.S: My food diary is completely Indian food and I am not sure how much it helps if you look at it.

You're supposed to NET the calories MFP gives you. If you exercise, you eat them back. That's why MFP gives you those calories back.

How do you feel? Are you starving? If yes, then eat more good, nutritious foods.

I started obsessing so much over the numbers and percentages that I was eating just because I had calories. Even though I was not at all hungry. That doesn't make sense to me.

If you are exercising and feel hungry from that exercise, then eat some more. If you are feeling good and full...then don't.

In my opinion, I think what matters more is WHAT you are putting into your body and how your body FEELS. The numbers are just numbers at the end of the day. Everyone is different.

A lot of people would argue what I have just said. And I am in no way condoning eating 600 calories a day. I am condoning eating lots of GOOD foods. (unprocessed, less sugar, less crap)

You said, "I don't want to starve"

So ask yourself, "are you starving?"

If you are, then eat. And eat good foods.

thank you for the details... when i am feeling hungry out of exercise, am grabbing a fruit or a handful of nuts and have some water... that makes me at it and energetic... i am not feeling like am starving but again am scared if am letting my metabolism down.
