Butterscotch Morsels

Does anyone know of a brand of Butterscotch Morsels/chips that don't have trans fat in them? I make a delicious Butterscotch Oatmeal cookie that I healthify quite a bit - whole wheat flour instead of AP, splenda brown sugar blend instead of regular brown sugar, egg beaters instead of eggs, etc. but I can't find butterscotch chips that don't have trans fat in them. Even if they say 0 for trans fat, the second or third ingredient is always "partially-hydrogenated", aka TRANS FAT. :explode: So far I've checked Nestle, Hershey and Hy-Vee's store brand and all three have trans fat so if anyone knows of a good brand that actually IS trans-fat free, please share!

I am guessing it is because real butterscotch would in no way be shelf stable, nor would the consistency be right. Partially hydrogenated oils (like shortening/Crisco) are used because it retains its shape and consistency at room temperature. Butterscotch chips (or morsels) are in no way like real butterscotch so I am not sure if it would be possible to have an all natural version.0

Bummer! I was afraid of that but thought I'd try.0 -
I've searched high and low for butterscotch morsels without partially hydrogenated fat, but I have come to the conclusion that they do not exist!
I did, however, find a recipe for homemade butterscotch chips: http://heavenlyhomemakers.com/homemade-butterscotch-baking-chips I haven't tried it, but hope to make them soon!0 -

Thank you! I remember reading that post a long time ago now but I'd forgotten about it, thanks so much! :flowerforyou:0
