Understanding MFP

Hey everyone. I'm 20 days in with MFP and I just started realizing I don't understand some of the things on the food diary page. Net calories and calorie deficit to be specific.
What should I be watching? Do I want to use all the calories and have a higher(lower?) number of net calories? If someone could explain it easily I'd appreciate it.. thanks

You want to net your goal. So if your goal is 1600 and you burn 350 calories through exercise, you want to eat 1950 calories to net 1600.0

Your goal already has a caloric deficit calculated into it. So yeah, stick to it, and eat more if you exercise to maintain the goal.0
