eating more to lose more

So after struggling to lose weight on the MFP suggested 1200 cals per day, and having no success. I did a ton of research and asked alot of questions on these MFP forums. I realize I need alot more cals to lose weight. My question now is, does anyone have any suggestions on how to up my cals safely? Should I increase 100/week, 100/every 2 weeks? My cals were netting less than 1200/day and I need to increase them to my TDEE-20% which equals 1800 cals/day. So far I've increased my cals to 1650 in about a 3 week time frame. Any suggestions? Am I on the right path?
