Help with Lunches :/

Bit of a boring post I know sorry :/

While I am at work I really struggle with lunch ideas. I have been just having a cup a soup and my protein shake but really need to up my calories. Apart from the good old sandwich I have no idea what to take.
We have no hob and no microwave - can anyone give any healthy meal ideas ?

Thank you :)

  • I am in University, and although the cafeteria food is delicious and inexpensive, its not very healthy most of the time. A lot of the time I will prepare myself a salad to bring to school in a tupperware container. To make sure I am getting the proper nutrients I usually have spinach, feta cheese, alfalfa, sunflower/pumpkin seeds, and cut up veggies in my salad. I bring another small container of low cal italian dressing (so it doesnt go soggy). When I am bored of normal salads, I will bring a bean salad, which has a lot of protein and is very filling. I also make a lot of whole grain wraps with things like tuna, chicken, and all different veggies. Hummus is a good spread because it is relatively low cal and it has a lot of protein. Bring baggies of veggies and snacks that are low in calories to snack on throughout the day, that way you are never hungry and don't need to eat a huge meal and lunch every day. Ultimately you should make sure to get enough natural protein and make sure that you are eating enough. There are lots of different things you can try, so experiment!

i take salad (the quickest is courgette and carrot grated together with lemon zest and mint), fruit, yoghurt, and crackers, most days.
  • hi, if you like cous cous , how about cooking some of the plain variety ( only needs boiling water and about 5 mins to soak ) use a stock cube for flavour to your taste then add small chopped cooked veg , such as peppers , onions , mushrooms, sweetcorn, peas, carrots courgette..( i used to fry mine in a little oil , but now i gently simmer them in water until just tender ...bit more healthy !).makes a tasty healthy lunch . wraps are another great lunch and can be filled with many things .

I make my lunch the night before for work. Sorry I don't know what a 'hob' is...

I'd there is no fridge, take your own Smaller cooler bag. Freeze a drink bottle and you will have cold water as well.

Salad, add can of tuna at work or cold meat.
Salads can be varied depending on what lettuce you use, add nuts, cheese, cucumber, tomato, beet root, grated carrot, onion, anything in a salad is terrific.

Tomorrow I am taking pear and rocket salad. It has rocket, pine nuts, bacon, caramelised balsamic dressing. I cut up the pear at work and add it so it doesn't discolour. Delicious!!

Meatballs. Beef or chicken with sauce.

Cheese and crackers. Cottage cheese and tomato on Ryvita or Vita Weets.

    Wraps

    So many options!!

We have an Australian website called taste.com.au. Plenty of lunch recipes there. Google it!!

    Good luck

if you don't want the sodium from the stock cube try minting the water (simply chuck in mint leaves... can put them in a tea strainer or whatever if you don't want the mint leaves to stay in but i just leave them in.

Minted cous cous is the goods.
