Just lost 1lb the first week!

So disappointed. What else can I do? I exercise an hour almost everyday and have eaten minimally and wisely.
Please help and support!
Thanks

1lb is better than no lb at all.

I know this sounds cliche but "do not put the emphasis on the weight loss" put it on eating healthy and the weight loss will come. I have to take each day one day at a time or I give up because the big picture is devastating. But when you look at how fast time goes by you know each day will accumulate into weight loss and body changes in sizes just like it added weight. I just started on Monday and would be happy to be a friend. Send me an add.

1lb in 1 week is totally fine!! If you're shooting for maximum fat loss (the healthy way) - eat clean, lean foods , decrease your calorie intake (but make sure it's still enough for you to function properly), do cardio (for a healthy heart and build stamina) and lift heavier weights (to blast the fat away with muscle!)!
  • a healthy rate of weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs per week, so your totally fine. Just remember it is gonna take time.
  • 1lb is a good start but don't give up there. I noticed you said you have been eating minimally, does that mean you have been eating at 1200 cals per day or less? I saw a news report last night here in Australia where scientists have confirmed that the less you eat the less weight you will lose and have identified the brain circuit responsible.

Here is the link to an interview with one of the researchers involved:

    http://www.abc.net.au/worldtoday/content/2013/s3684443.htm

They also mention the development of drugs to help combat this issue however they will only be given as a last resort. A healthy diet and exercise is still the favoured recommendation for weight loss.

In short my advice is make sure you are eating enough and are choosing healthy options. The weight will come off over time, you just need to be persistent :)

Feel free to add me if you would like some support on this journey :)
  • One pound is about right. I lose about one pound to a pound and a half weekly. Losing any faster is not always the best thing. Don't be discouraged. You have friends here that will support you on your journey.
  • It's your first week, these things take time. You say you've been eating minimally in your post. Taking that into consideration, you might not be eating enough. From my personal experience, I thought that eating 1200 calories max was the way to go, but my weight would not budge. After upping my intake to 1500-1800, I lost 6 pounds in about 3 weeks. What also helps is to look at this as a lifestyle change, not a diet. Diets end, a lifestyle obviously goes on for the rest of your life. Slow progress is still progress.
  • 1 lb. a week is 52 lbs. in a year. I'll take that any day. If some one said right now "poof" you are 52 lbs. lighter, I'd be like YES !!!! It will fluctuate, one week may be more, one week less, one week maybe none that's why I don't look at the number on the scale to decide if I did good or not that week, I know what I did, and I go by that. It will all balance out.

That's one pound for the WIN column.
Congrats on a successful week, even if you don't see it that way.
I have lost over 30 lbs, and have done it averaging about .6 to .8 lb. loss per week. Losing slow makes losing easier. No deprivation. No starvation. It is all good.
  • I lost about 5 lbs the first week but it was also because I was doing a detox. Keep in mind most people say that the safe way to weight loss is 1 - 2 lbs per week.

For me, I have decided that the emphasis shouldn't be so much on "how much I weigh" but how I feel, how my body is changing, the strength I'm gaining with the exercises I'm doing and knowing that I have gone down at least one jean size in a month - makes me smile every time! Keep your chin up - you will have your ups and downs but stick with it......it's totally worth it.
