Ugh, calories...

Ok, so I know what I'm supposed to be doing. My problem is not over eating but rather under eating. I have hardly any appetite due mostly to medication (not weight loss med, by the way). I'm struggling to even eat 1200 calories per day, let alone eat enough to meet my BMR. I probably should be eating around 1600-1700. If I were to eat exactly how I want, when I'm hungry, I would really only be grossing around 700 calories a day. I have plenty of energy, sleep well and my mood and concentration is fine. For a long time i was an emotional eater and thats how I got heavy in the first place. im pretty i have the emotional aspect of hunger under control. i havent had a desire to binge for a while.
So, should I try to push myself to eat more or should I just listen to my body and eat when I'm hungry?

I would ask your doctor. From what I remember, your brain needs around 500 calories or so to function fully everyday. Add in the needs of your other organs to survive and you get your BMR. The bare minimum amount of calories you need to stay healthy. So in my opinion it would be wisest to up your calories to the bmr.0

I've been through the exact same thing. Try eating more oils, (fats contain more calories than anything else, and are NOT bad for you if coming from the right sources) perhaps incorporate nuts into your diet. Beans also come at a pretty heavy caloric number, and are packed with healthy benefits. Bananas, some oranges, and avocado are good choices to get more calories.
Even if you're not hungry, sometimes you have to force yourself to eat. I know, it seems weird. I'm not hungry, so why am I eating? But you need to force yourself into eating if you want to remain healthy. I get what you mean about not feeling tired, not having problems at all, and it all seeming to go well. But that kind of thing takes a toll on you in the end, and you don't want that.
I now comfortably eat 1400 calories per day as opposed to the 600-800 i used to eat.0 -
i agree i'd certainly speak with your doctor... hopefully there will be something he/she is able to do.
ultimately you need to fuel your body.... as hard as it is, i'd say you may want to carry snacks around all day and just make sure you're "fueling up". you can do it0
