Hungry all day? Are you eating Aspartame?

Hi all,

This isn't another "aspartame is evil!" post. Just a head's up for people that might be having an issue with it.

1) I have an eating set up that works for me, I'm never hungry, it's awesome.
2) Normally I don't eat products with Aspartame.

But I accidently bought a yogurt that had Aspartame. I ate it yesterday about midday along with all the other food I normally eat. I was hungry really soon after my snack. I thought it was odd but ate a little something. Then I had dinner and it felt like I hadn't eaten anything, I was still really hungry. Also odd. Ate a little more food. An hour later: hungry again. I went to bed with my stomach growling. Normally, I eat my last meal around 7pm and go to bed a few hours later feeling fine. I woke up feeling nauseated I was so hungry. I think it was the Aspartame. It was the only thing different in my rather routine, boring eating.

This was just my experience. It very well might just be me. BUT if you're hungry all the time while eating well and you are consuming products with Aspartame they MIGHT be the reason. Try a day or so without Aspartame-containing products and see if it makes a difference. It might. And then you'll have found a solution to the "I'm hungry again!?" problem.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

Thank god it isn't another aspartame hate thread.

I do actually agree with you though, in that if I drink diet coke etc, I tend to get sugar cravings. But I believe that is a common side affect of any sweetener.

I would be more inclined to think you were just hungry on that day than the amount of aspartame you had in that single yogurt. Some days our bodies are just hungry...it's telling you something. Weakness, nausea, grumpiness, stomach growling...all signs your body wants a bit more fuel. I am not saying have a blowout and eat 5000cals in a day but some extra protein and such and up your cals by a couple hundred for the day could possibly cure this...ie extra egg at breakfast, double turkey on that subway sub, 5oz of chicken for supper rather than 3oz. good luck on your journey!!

You're probably right. I assume any sugar consumption (real or "fake") would leave you wanting more. It just pissed me off becasue I'm not used to going hungry!

You may have just been having a hungry day! I get them occasionally, where I just never feel satisfied.
