Calories v. TDEE and BMR?

So I have mfp set for me to net around 1400 calories a day. I calculated my BMR which is about 1550, so if I didn't do much all day that's how much I'd supposedly burn. Then I was calculating my TDEE and I selected light exercise because I just started back to exercising, even though I work out more than 3 days a week now and it says I burn 2257...okay...and before I was exercising when I was sick and at my desk job I burned 1970. I know it's just an estimate but it can't be too far off. I eat around 1500-1800max most days. Maybe one day a week I'll eat 2000. So most days I go over on my net if I don't work out or I hit right at it.

So basically I'm lost. I'm not sure if I'm doing this right. I mean honestly if I was burning 2257 the weight should be falling off if I eat 1500 calories a day..Thinking back to the past that's not been the case. I'm wondering if I'm not eating enough or too much but all this tells me I'm not overeating..just annoyed. Everyone says it's as simple as calories in v. calories out but even though the math is sitting right there in front of me I'm not so sure that's the case.

I know diet is a factor but I think my diet is fairy good, of course not perfect but I do stick to mostly whole foods with few processed foods. Drink lots of water and unsweet tea, rarely drink juice and maybe a couple sodas a week but I'm working on cutting that down to one then continue cutting it down from there and get back to the one soda a month thing I had going.

It's really annoying because my mom says I'm fat because of all the healthy stuff I'm eating? I don't get how fruits and vegetables are gonna make me fat....opposed to when I used to eat cereal for breakfast, frozen tv dinner for lunch and a frozen pizza for dinner...so I have no support at home.

How much weight do you need to lose?

I agree with both the above posters...open your diary and how much weight do you need to lose-that will decide if you take your TDEE and subtract 20%, 15% or 10%

How long have you been trying at 1400 calories a day?

    Is that working for you?

That wouldn't help because I've been so discouraged I don't log everything or even everyday anymore. I keep a total on my mio watch more than I log here.

I need to lose 25lbs, I'm at 167, 5'3". 10 of which was gained by some medicine I was taking in november which still won't come off.
