I love MFP! I love all the success stories of hard working individuals! It makes me feel good knowing so many people are making amazing changes in their lives. Then...I begin to feel like I am a huge slacker. I want to lose the weight, and I am...slowly (gone from 184 in sept to 166 this morning!). But i sure don't work nearly as hard as a lot of you on here. I cheat! I eat junk sometimes! I skip the gym! I don't push myself as hard as I should when I am in the gym! I just don't know what else I need to give myself that push!?!

What keeps you all motivated? And do you have a little extra to share? lol

We all have our weak spots - I eat junkfood sometimes too. I find, however, that allowing myself my salt & vinegar chips stops me from binging on junk after some time of completely depriving myself. I think the truth is we can eat what we want in moderation and still be fine.

As for the gym...I try to push myself as hard as possible, but I have days where it is hard to push at all...on those days it is a success just getting there. Stay positive and stay focused. You can do this!

So long as you stick with it, and you're making progress, that's all that really matters. Not everyone wants to (or can) 'go hard', and I've learned to respect that, even if I can't understand it for the life of me.

I think you have a very good and very CUTE little reason for going slower sitting right there on your LAP! You have lots of important priorities in your life, weight loss is only one of them. As long as you are making some progress, that's great. Honestly to me 22 lbs in 6 months sounds admirable for someone as busy as I know you must be with at least one little one. You are a star in my book!:flowerforyou:

Thank you! He is my absolute pride and joy and it is hard to work all day then drop him off at the gym daycare. By the time I get home and eat dinner its already time for his bath and bed. Not enough hours in the day!

I "cheat" when it comes to eating too (though I don't call it that). Not every day, but at least once a week I eat something that I'd probably better off without. And many would probably consider my nightly wine as cheating, but I don't.

But I don't cheat when it comes to working out. I may skip a day now and then, but when I exercise I push myself. I have so little free time that if I'm going to spend it working out I'm sure as **** going to get all I can out of it.

As long as I've had a good workout, I don't have to feel guilty about the other cheats.

Of course you're worthy! I don't cheat - I don't consider eating to be cheating. A lot of people might consider the kinds of food I eat to be cheating though. I eat all kinds of tasty non-diet foods. From time to time, I exceed my TDEE.

I don't always feel motivated to exercise. I generally feel motivated to do cardio, but sometimes this winter, work, early nights, bad weather and illness have made it more difficult and dampened my enthusiasm. I'm pretty good at making it a regular thing though and I stay motivated because I've made my mental health an absolute priority, and for me - that means regular cardio. I also started doing the couch to 5k programme, so while I was doing that, I was motivated to get out running to ensure I finished the programme. As for strength training - my efforts are seriously half-hearted compared to a lot of people round here. I could do much better.

Regardless of my variable efforts - I lost about 55 lbs last year, reached my goal, my BMI and body fat percentage are healthy, and I look & feel better than I ever have. Luckily, perfection wasn't necessary. My eating and exercise habits are far from perfect, but they are tons better than they were this time last year. You're on the right track, and you've done great so far. Just keep at it. Habits take time to, well, become habits. You just need to keep practising them.
