over 40 and struggling

I am 42 years old, I am 5ft 4in and weigh 148 lbs. I would like to get back to 128, at least that is my goal. I have worked out off and on for years, I also quit smoking just about 1 1/2 years ago. I do the Insanity workout 6 days a week, I try to keep my calorie intake at 1400 (not including the 350 - 550 calories I am burning with Insanity). I have only lost 3 pounds in five weeks, although I did loose about 2 inches on my waist and 1 inch in my hips. I am frustrated that the weight is not falling off likeit used to. I never had to worry about weight, even after I had my two boys. I worked out and lost the weight within a few months, its not so easy now. Anyone hve any suggestions to better my situation?

Seems like you are netting less than 1000 calories a day - in my opinon that is why you are not losing. You need to eat more. Much more. I am 42 and workout 3 days (sometimes 4) a week and eat 1800 calories a day, every day, with sustained weight loss.

    Hi,
I'm 43 and yes, it IS harder to lose than when I was younger!

You might consider opening your diary in order to get advice - it's been helpful to me.

I sent you a FR - we can suffer through middle aged weight loss together!

You lost 3 lbs in 5 weeks and and lost inches. I would say you are doing just fine. Losing at a rapid rate just sets you up for a regain. Just be patient and keep at it. BTW I am 41, everybody's metabolism and resting BMR is different. The other thing is if you are burning 350 to 550 cals and not eating them back you are dipping under 1200 which can slow your metabolism down.

Yes, I tend to agree here. You are welcome to peek at my diary if you want.
