Question about exercise logs

Ok, maybe someone can help me with this issue. I was just riding my stationary recumbent bike. I did it for 45 min./ 8 miles. The machine says I burned 143 calories. However, if I go to log it on here as either bicycling or stationary bike for 45 minutes, it says I burned between 309 and 337 calories. Anyone got an idea as to what's up with that?

MFP exercise numbers tend to be high. The ones on the machine yours using are probably more accurate. Or you can just split the difference and log somewhere between them,....until you get a good HRM.0

Yeah, when I do elliptical workouts it will tell me I burned 700+...except the machine at the gym tracks my heart rate and factors in my weight and says I burned around 400. I go with that. I think MFP tends to aim high, so I try to adjust accordingly.0

MFP probably posts total calories burned, including activity plus your BMR for time spent. Your equipment probably posts calorie burn from activity only.0
