Heart Rate Monitor Recs?

I'm short on cash, but I'm thinking about getting a heart rate monitor to see how well I'm actually doing on my workouts. Does anyone have any recommendations for a decent one that's not too expensive?

Thanks!

I use the Polar Fit F40, I think it is. The least expensive one on their website. I really like it-shows you your heartrate and calories burned, and keeps a training log. I've had it for a year and use it daily.

FWIW, I haven't used my HRM in many months, and these last several months have been some of my greatest in terms of fitness and body composition progress. I'm starting to think simplicity is best and less is more, but I'm sure this will vary from person to person.

Polar FT4. I bought mine for around $60. Sears had them recently for $40, not sure if they are still on sale

If you want to see how well you are doing in your workouts, how about setting a goal, achieving it and then setting it 10% higher and achieving that. So if you can run 3 miles in 38 mins then go for 3 miles in 30 mins. Or 4 miles in 45 mins. Won't cost you a thing but it will get you much better results than a bargain hrm ever could.

<--- Polar FT7. Had it for the last 2 years-ish. Love it.

-Although like Jedi Taso I don't really use mine much anymore. I think it was great at first but now I feel it makes me much less obsessive. I only use it for interval training now to make sure I'm pushing my max HR for stamina/endurance training not necessarily for cal burns.
