Devising a training plan/lifting

I do video workouts at home (single Mom that can't afford the gym) so I have Jillian Michael's Body Revolution (which I love) and now I am trying to incorporate Chalean extreme's videos....Some days, I do double workouts, since Jillian's videos are only 30 minutes and sometimes at night, I feel the bug to do another workout....I want to double up with some of Chaleans but not sure how.

rule #1 of lifting weights, give 48 hour rest to the muscles you lift, right? Or is that 24 hours?

Jillian does it "front of body" in one video and "rear body" the next video but Chalean does it different....anyone have advice? I'm just trying to avoid injury.

I'm training for the June 1st VA Beach Tough Mudder so I'm going a bit hardcore on the getting into shape bit.
