what foods cause the biggest water retention?

  • salty foods! meat, dairy, eggs- anything high in fat, too. But I notice the most from salty foods like popcorn and salted cashews.

    I have found that when I go out to eat (no matter what the food) that I gain water weight and am bloated the next day. I am guessing that restaurants are putting a lot of hidden salt in their foods.

    I'm sorry that this was not the answer you were looking for, but just something worth mentioning with water retention. I am having a lot of issues with it lately myself and will be interested to see what others say.

    I agree with that! I have also noticed this when eating at restaurants!
  • Water retantion some time caused by some food like:

    1. Dairy products
    2. Diet soda
    3. Deli meats (even low salt)
    4. pre-cooked rotisserie chicken
    5. canned tuna (not low salt)
    6. condiments
    7. tomato sauce
    8. soups (even low salt)

    You also retain water when you get your period and when you are building muscle so dont weigh yourself go by how your clothes look/ feel
