Heart Rate Monitor

Hi everyone! I was hoping I can get some input on this. So I recently bought a heart rate monitor to track more closely how many calories I burn during my workouts. This morning I did an hour workout from the P90x dvds and the hrm said I burned 1447 calories! This seems like way too much. Yet again, I do have a lot to burn off and the dvds are intense. I'm 5' 6" and weigh around 211, but still 1447 calories sounds like a bit much. Should I just log this number since it is what the hrm told me? What do you guys think?

mmm...just my opinion, but I'd say something is off. P90X is a great workout, but even if you were doing the Plyo video which is all cardio, I doubt you could burn that much. A couple questions. Did you input your height, weight, age etc.? Are you wearing a chest strap too? My experience has been w/o a chest strap the watch only HRM are pretty much useless. Even with the chest strap you're looking at it possibly being off by 10% or so.

Lol yeah, I think something is off too. It's a wrist one so it may be an inaccurate reading. I did input all of my stats though.

If you are 5'6 and 211 lbs, I do not see why burning 1447 calories doing p90x is a stretch. I think it may be accurate. Doesn't sound strange at all. Now if you said you were 5'6 110 lbs then I would tell you it might be off.

    Good luck!
