Yes me - 1yr/50lbs no exercise.

HOWEVER now, for the first time in my LIFE, I am actually starting to WANT to exercise. Yep, shocked the hell out of me it did. I no longer shun it or make excuses to avoid it when my friends go walking up the Mount ......

Uh huh, I - as in me, lazy don't-do-exercise me - is now going up (& down) this a couple of times a week AND I've started to play tennis. I KNOW!

So, to answer your query, weightloss is indeed very possible without exercising (it's all simple calorie in/calorie out after all) BUT you might surprise yourself & discover, somewhere down the track, that you actually begin to want to

I lost my firs 45 without exercise...but noticed that I needed to tone and get in better shape so I began working out (which I HATED more than just about anything) but stuck with it and now love it.

Lost my first 30 with little to no exercise, but now that I'm back in the gym 3-5 days a week, I feel amazing. My loss has stalled for a bit because I've upped my cals and increased my exercise, but I feel amazing and I can already see my body getting toned!
  • Absolutely possible with dietary changes alone, but I have been lifting the whole time. I was afraid of what I would look like underneath all the extra padding that I was discarding.

Woow thats amazing congrats on all your weight loss guys!! I asked because i lost 28 pounds without exercise and now I'm 6 pounds away from my goal and i haven't lost any weight for the past 4 months! I don't like doing exercise because it just seems like a chore after about a couple of weeks. I started lifting dumbbells and doing a few other dumbbell exercises a couple of days ago, i dont now if this is going to help but I'm going to try it :)

I think you'll find that most folks here would say that after making exercise a "habit" it became enjoyable.

It also seems like the folks who lost with no exercise started out with a lot to lose. I think it becomes harder to lose with ONLY diet once you get close to whatever is a healthy low weight for your body. It seems to be harder, in general, once you are no longer obese. I'm in my last 5-10lbs and I'm considered thin and it's much harder to lose that weight now as opposed to when I started and was obese.

I think you're right ^ - I am really struggling to lose now (though I still have a bit to go - my ticker says 9lb but ideally I'd like it to be 20+) even though my diet has remained strictly the same (1200), so I'm hoping a little exercise might kick things in the right direction. I mean I never lost quickly anyway (50lb in a year isn't exactly great) but I've done it in a way that I can continue forEVER - that was my goal.
