What happens if a woman eats this? Will it cause her to bulk up?

    I LOVE POCKY!

You should see the huge gigantic ones they sell. I can't find a picture of it..but it's a huge log cake thing.

My son wonders why I give him these, since apparently it's for women.

I suspect it is laden with soy...and what with all those phytoestrogens I suspect it's trying to turn my baby boy into a GIRL!!!!

Mikado is a different brand. Pocky is pocky ..hehehehehe. The taste is a bit different if I remember correctly.

    Maybe the "Men's" designation is for Valentine's Day . . .

Hmmm, but wouldn't it still be red? And then the women's one would be white for White Day in March?

Ooooo, I'd send you some if I could..lol. It's a bit creamier I think in texture and taste then Mikado. Like I said, if I remember correctly, Mikado was a bit harder and more bitter (not bitter bitter, but not as sweet).

I suffer the adverse effect of sudden loss of self control when eating Men's Pocky. The whole box is gone in seconds. Dark chocolate is dangerous stuff, ladies... Leave it for the men.
  • Mmmm...Pocky.

I think it would sound sexier if they said, "Pocky, for Men." "Men's Pocky" sounds like a euphemism.

It's because of a stereotype in Japan that sweets are for women. Using Dark Chocolate they are trying to market to men.

But Valentine's Day has been the day where women give men chocolates (White Day being when women receive gifts from men). I didn't realize there was really a stereotype (then again, i might not have really noticed it). Must be a somewhat newer thing though because I honestly don't remember the Men Pocky at all.

Are they the same as the Panda cookies? They look similar; chocolate filling in a little crunchy biscuit with a panda face on it.

They sell lots of them in various flavours in soho, London, aka Chinatown.
Had assumed they were Chinese actually, not Japanese.
