I had Gastric Bypass surgery October 2004. I have been morbidly obese all my life. I have a lifetime of mental and physical scars from obesity. I will be 45 years old this year.

I have gained back 80 of almost 300 pounds lost initially. I joined this group hoping to get back on track. I never reached my goal of 200 pounds. I am in the process of going for a lap-band revision surgery this year if I feel it is beneficial. Since I need help staying focused on my goals I joined this group.

I use to exercise on average 5 to 6 times a 45 to 75 min each session and weights at health club and at home with exercise DVD's. I was very active and one reason for my gains over time I am less committed to my workouts. So far I am exercising 3 to 4 times a week 30 to 40 min sessions with walking DVDS. I am ashamed to go back to health club since I have gained 50 pounds since the last time I was there--which was February 2009. my knee gave out and did not exercise for 2 months last year and I have not been able to get back on track since. Last year I considered lap-band and said no I don't need it. I do not think I am a failure I just need a readjustment and not sure how to get mind back in focus with my goals.

Surgery can not fix the head. It is a good tool and the best gift I have given to myself. I want to reach my goal and maintain weight loss. I look forward to getting to know you and participating in the group. It is my hope that there will be an interchange of encouragement and that we can help each other.

Welcome! I can sure relate to not wanting to go to the gym b/c you've gained weight since going there last. Heck, someone commented on my short-sleeved shirt the other day and it nearly made me give up going! ( I usually wear long-sleeved shirts to work out in as I'm ashamed of my arms!) Congratulations on joing MFP! I think you are going to find a supportive environment to help you when you need it!
  • Welcome I have been using this website for a week. Everyone is so nice. I think we have all been in that boat. I was walking down the street exercising and a car full of guys started calling me a pig and making pig noises. I don't understand we are trying to change our way off life and somehow people know when to tear us down. Keep it up we can do it just believe in yourself.
