Reverse Diet? Dinner before Breakfast

Has anybody tried the Breakfast for dinner and Dinner for breakfast diet? I just read a article from Today and it stated that this person lost weight by eating breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast. Makes sense because we need the extra energy for the day not when we sleep...

I am interested in trying this out. Any thoughts on this?

Sounds like a gimmicky way to eat less and "trick" yourself into having more filling foods during the day so you don't over eat. I don't see anything wrong with that though as long as you're getting the nutrition you need. Go for it!0

I've been doing this every day for the past um....5 yrs. But that's cuz i work the night shift. So i eat Dinner along w/ the rest of the family when i wake up lol
Has 0 effect on if i lose weight or not. In the end, it's still calories in vs out. Doesn't matter what time of day you eat them!0 -

I like brinner. but if I eat brinner, and dinner for breakfast, I still eat the same amount of food.
I don't get it....my breakfast isn't much smaller than my dinner. it has more fat though, and that keeps me satisfied and "going" throughout the day.
just read the article. the "Diet" is simply restricted calories. I was hungry just looking at it. you could eat those foods in any order and get the same results. it's also pretty low fat. blah.0 -
:noway: Just another gimmicky diet trying to make money. What matters is calories, not when you eat them...0

Strong first post. Really strong.0 -
it does not matter if you eat breakfast at 6am or pm. It has the same amount of calories.0

As someone who doesn't eat breakfast AND eats most of her calories right before bed AND is still losing weight, I think I'm going to have to call BS on this.0

meal timing, frequency, how many calories you're having in a sitting, etc is completely irrelevant. If you are in a deficit, then you are in a deficit and will lose weight...if you eat to maintenance you will maintain...if you eat at a surplus you will gain...the timing of energy consumption is completely irrelevant.
This is just a gimmick...if it worked it is because the individual was in a calorie deficit whether that was intended or not. Weight loss is science and math...that is all it is.0 -

This is not a gimmick. The phrase "Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper" has always been taught in the Asian culture. It is also about forming good habits.0

I do a similar version to this. I don't necessarily eat dinner foods in the morning but I eat my biggest meal of the day for breakfast.0

Just because it is taught in the Asian culture doesn't make it correct or based on any sort of science. If that saying equates "good habits" to you, then do it. For me, I don't wake up very hungry and I always have a small breakfast. Dinner is my largest meal of the day. I lost 30 pounds that I have kept off/maintained for 2 years using this method...it doesn't make my way any more or less valid than yours. Everyone has to find their own eating groove and go with it.
As stated above, it doesn't matter the timing or quantity of calories at each meal...if you are in a calorie deficit, you are in a deficit. No need to make it any more complicated than that.0 -
"breakfast" is just the first meal after "fasting" during sleep, so it doesn't matter if you are eating "breakfast foods" or "dinner foods"0
-
wait- you mean eating breakfast for dinner is a diet?
damn- I've been doing that for years- HOLLLLLLA IHOP at midnight!!!!0 -
Actually since most Asian people are thin, there is some truth and science to it. The fact is metabolism slows down at night. Just because you lost weight and have kept it off doesn't mean the way you are doing it is healthy. Another true fact is that most people who have lost weight will regain that weight back because they didn't form good habits.0
