Happy CNY! (Chinese New Year).

This lunar new year ushers in the year of the black/water snake.

Do you celebrate CNY? If so, what are your plans?

For all our CNY-celebrating friends, I wish you a Happy CNY, and an auspicious and prosperous Year of the Snake!
kind regards,

Ben

    GUNG HAY FAT CHOY!!!

FUN FACT: In general it's your zodiac year if you are turning a multiple of 12 (12/24/36/48/60/72/84/96/108) since there are 12 zodiac animals.

    [From gohongkong.about.com]
    Birth Years for the Snake Zodiac Sign: 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001

Naturally intelligent, snakes have a thirst for knowledge and education giving them a wisdom that makes them prudent and rational when it comes to both money and relationships. They rarely make snap decisions, preferring to be patient, weigh up the pros and cons before choosing the right course. Their cool, calm and collected approach to life snakes cope with stress well but it can make them seem emotionally detached and they struggle to express themselves.

Oops - didn't answer your question.

We are trying to get together w/ my millions of cousins and no one was free this weekend, so we will be celebrating late - at the end of the month actually.
Like all of our gatherings, it is about food and family.
Since it will be after the official New Year, we will be gathering at our house - I"m flying home to help clean and prep.
Looking forward to it...and no, not just for the red money envelopes.

Year of the snake! Hopefully it's going to bring me some good fortune! :)
  • My boyfriend is Chinese and we celebrated by going to the lunar new year festival in the international district andwe passed out red envelopes to our coworkers. We also made fish and veggie jook and decorated my apartment yesterday. :) I hope the year of the snake is as prosperous and flexible as predicted!
