Working out "too" much. Help please!

I have heard a variety of different opinions on this subject, and not really sure who to believe. I have a goal to lose 30 pounds in 2 months. Needs to be done, period. My habit is not to take any days off between work outs because I get off track, and my deadline is looming over my head. Just curious as what the best thing to do is with such a big goal...?

Adjust your goal to 8lb in 2 months
  • I would if I wasn't on such a time line, is 30 pounds just unattainable?

Don't make such a big goal. Make smaller goals. 30 lbs in 2 months is setting yourself up for failure. That is a lot of weight to lose in such a short amount of time. Try with maybe 5 lbs in one month. And working out 4 times a week and gradually do more. Otherwise, you'll be back in a couple of months saying how disappointed with yourself you are that you didn't do it, and then repeat the cycle of big goals that won't work. Just be reasonable.

30 lbs in 2 months is prob not reasonable. It would mean losing 1lb about every 2 days. Just do the best you can, eat properly and exercise and the weight will come off...just maybe not on the time table you are looking at.
  • It is not exercise but a extreme diet. HCG drops, I lost 20 pounds in 21 days. Just a thought .

It can be done, but it matters your starting weight. it'll be easier to lose this much if you're starting at 250 lbs vs 175 lbs. you'll have to keep a VERY clean diet, with whole foods and lean meats only. If you do high-intensity cardio for 45-mins per day at a minimum, you'll drop weight quickly. Daily calories should be low, but enough so you don't feel unwell. Consider replacing a meal with a protein shake. It's hard to lose and maintain at this level, but if you have a goal, you should be able to get close (e.g. 25 lbs). Most people, like myself, couldn't or wouldn't want to lose this way or at this pace.

30lbs is a lot in 2 months time. If you are doing any weight training make sure you aren't doing full body everyday. As far as cardio, it can be done everyday but I would rest at least 2 days out of the week. Your rest days will also be your result days.. The body will need time to heal itself and what happens after the gym is where it really counts too.
  • Can you lose 30 pounds in 2 months. Yes, only if you go to extremes. And most likely you will gain it right back. Why such the rush? The way I see it if you are going to put in the effort and sweat to lose the weight, why not do it in a way so it will stay off?!

Don't do this, please. This, nor other extreme diets, teach you anything about living and eating healthier. It's not a sustainable method of weight loss and it does not help you keep any weight off.

What's the hurry?! Wouldn't you rather lose the weight more gradually, without harming your health, without suffering, and then keep it off forever? 30 pounds in 2 months seems pretty unsafe, unless you are starting out with a LOT of weight to lose and that's just the beginning.
  • If you're worried about taking rest days, do active rest days, like a walk or yoga to get moving, but not a lot of exertion. Definitely take 2 days a week at least off from lifting. You have to give your muscles time to recover.

The number one thing to do to lose the weight is HIIT cardio and eat clean! No fad diets or drops are going to help you keep the weight off. It's a lifestyle change, not a temporary fix.
