I'm 24 and a kick boxer at the moment and have done karate, judo and swimming and weight lifting before. I'm not on a diet and never have been. I eat one or 2 meals a day and do extensive workout twice a week and walk a lot. the problem is I have very muscular legs that don't look so good for a girl. I do have killer kicks and high stamina but I want to look a bit girly. I'm tired of these Roberto Carlos legs. what exercises can I do to make them slimmer yet powerful?

I don't have an answer beyond a suggestion... I have very muscular legs, crazy cut.... And I think of myself as blessed, not cursed. I am much older (likely) than you, so my wisdom to impart is to work at accepting yourself for the things you love and try to find something fabulous in the things/parts that you don't love. Some things can be modified, but our muscularity really is not likely to be one of those. Good luck on your journey!
  • I'm not completely sure but I have heard that running will help slim down muscular legs. I wonder if you might be able to find an answer on a site like "livestrong" or other fitness sites.
  • You might want to try doing pilates (videos at home or a class). This can perhaps lengthen the muscles and make them appear smaller.

Excess cardio will break down muscle if you are already in good shape. Otherwise it will just mess up any fat loss goals.

If you want to go the extra mile, this might seem slightly controversial but go get your hormones tested (estrogen, androgens). If it comes back that you have excess androgens that might be a cause for the unwanted muscular appearance. Obviously that can possibly be fixed with hormone therapy if you want. Again, slightly controversial but I've been reading a ton about hormonal stuff.

Muscle is great and metabolically powerful, but it's understandable if you want to have more "feminine" legs. I won't argue with anyone about "what looks feminine" but I definitely get what you're saying.
  • When working out, make sure your movements are long and slow rather than short and quick. The first slims, the second bulks.
I have very muscular legs and I was a powerlifter, but I absolutely love my thighs! As long as I can keep the cellulite away that is :)

I was a mountain biker and road biker and probably have genetically more muscular legs. In the last few years, I have started distance running, which I am sure has helped; however, I have also started yoga and doing a ballet dvd workout! It doesn't take much to make already strong legs feel long and lean. Plus, it's okay to love your muscular legs! Even I have learned to rock some skinny jeans. :)
