quinoa

I was wondering is Quinoa a complex carb, and is it better then brown rice to build muscle mass, becuase I am 5'7 145lbs 36 year old male who is underweight for my medium frame, and how many calories I need to gain healthy weight, my calories on myfitnesspal says I need 2590 calories per day to gain, but I think 2590 calories is to low ?

    Yes, it's a complex carb. I think it's better than brown rice bcse it's higher in protein. Have you calcd how many cals you burn every day? I agree that 2600 sounds low. I we shoot for 300-500 for gaining.

    It is a good source of protein which is good for muscle growth, so is cous cous.

    It's a superfood! You can enjoy it like a carb but it has real benefits across the board. I make big pots of soup and add quinoa--it's a great addition to split pea soup!
