A huge mental NSV for a gal down from 277 to 181lbs...

So over the past few weeks, I have noticed I feel pretty darn good about myself and my body. Sure, it is most definitely not perfect and still larger than what many girls/guys would view as ideal but I have actually come to (major gasp for me...) like it - despite the less than perfect features. This is a huge mental adjustment for me and it just feels really good.
The flip side to this mental adjustment has been that I actually don't feel like I need to get down to my original goal weight of 165lbs. I feel/actually am 1000 times fitter than I have ever been before in my entire life - and I intend to continue pursuing my fitness goals, an offshoot of which includes losing a tiny bit more body fat . I'm currently 181lbs and think my new goal will be 175lbs.
Only downside is that I stupidly worry about some thinking I'm giving up and that my BMI is still in the overweight category. However, I recently had a full medical and everything was 100% perfect and in the "excellent" category (cholesterol, blood pressure, kidney/liver function, resting pulse etc) so I'm trying not to get too hung up on the BMI thing.
Phew, so that's my mental NSV and to keep things a little less wordy...here are a few progress pics I took this week - in the gym locker rooms lol. Hey, I don't have a full length mirror at home!

You most definitely should like your body, you look AMAZING! Nobody could ever look at you and consider you to be overweight. SCREW BMI. You look slimmer and fitter than many who weigh less then you. Your health tests speak for themselves. So proud to have you as a friend! I needed to read something positive like this tonight! x0

I've read that BMI might not be the best indicator because someone with excess weight vs. someone who is toned, could have the same BMI. I'm not too concerned about BMI and neither should you!0 -
I just happened on your post and may I say congratulations on all of your hard work! You look TERRIFIC!
I'm in a comprehensive exercise and diet program at our local medical university and the organizers stress that while BMI is a good screen for obesity, it is not a diagnostic. It doesn't take muscles into account.
Waist circumference is a better indicator. And, girl, your waist is tiny.

Lady you total ROCK. One thing I will say is that no matter what weight you were at, you are seriously styling. Forget about the BMI and go with what feels best for you. I would look malnourished to get down to "my ideal BMI" because I have heavy bones and a lot of twitch muscle due to my Dad being Polynesian. You are an inspiration and I am glad that you support me.0

You have done an amazing job and you are sooo right to be enjoying your new body! The Doctor's results confirm that it is doing ALL the right things. Perfect time to move the scales down from top priority and make fitness your number 1. Enjoy the head turning when you walk by confidence - big smiles!0

I think you look great, but I would recommend you stay on your original track. I don't know your height, but 175 seems like you would still be carrying too much fat. I'm not trying to be an *kitten*. I don't like when people say "you've lost enough weight". They are usually justifying their own lack of discipline.

I'm at 173 at this point and am positive even though my BP and cholestorel are perfect that with age it will be harder and harder. Keep up the good work.0 -

Thanks ladies foe your honesty. Amy, I don't think you sound like an *kitten* at all. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It's kinda useful to be called out, since it reconfirms ( to me) that I am actually happy with my decision.
I'm 5'9 and my body fat is currently 29% but I'd like to get it down to 25%. I wear a US size 8-10. I am comfortable with my numbers so to speak and so is my doctor.
In terms of discipline, I don't agree that accepting a higher weight = accepting a lack of self discipline. I live a very active lifestyle, working out 5-6 times a week plus hike on top of that. I also intend to continue to track my food intake and focus on clean eating. But again, everyone has to make their own decision and is entitled to their own opinion.0 -

You look great! I'm 5'10 and was 270 at one point. I'm 242 now. My original goal was to get down to 170 (to be within the BMI range of normal weight), but I think I want to be 180.0
