I can never get the perfect balance when it comes to calories and carbs. My BMR (according to MFP) is 1359, so I try to reach 1400 but I can't get to that without going over my carbs and sometimes fat. Not by much though.

so is it better to go over my carbs and fat and eat 1400 calories or stay under them and eat less calories?

I aim for the calorie number and not exceed it. It was some logging to figure out what foods are best for you. I usually have carbs remaining, but I don't worry about it. Look at the foods you have logged and see which ones have the best overall content for you. I use moderation. I don't deprive myself any food because then I will really want it. Good luck.

Plan your meals ahead of time, and switch things up until you have struck a balance. Keep in mind that some carbs are better than others. If you have to go over on carbs try to make it things like fresh fruit and veggies, and keep grain based products to a minimum.

If it is only slightly over that is fine. I usually end up going slightly over most days, but I am getting better. I focused on calories, and I have pretty much learned how to moderate them, and am working on figuring out the carb/fat/protein macro. Some days I am right on, others I struggle. This is a learning game, so keep at it. You will get it.

Also, I manually adjusted my macros to 40/30/30....you can try that or 50/20/30...I found that MFP had my carbs set WAY too low (low carb diets don't work for me lol, I like pasta lol)
